When You Are Called

     As a member of RCSFLU, we pray most fervently that you did not join the club to be a RINO (Rotarian in Name Only)…for being a Rotarian takes more than that! You are expected to immerse yourself …to take part in activities…to get involved…to make Rotary a part of your life!

     There is nothing more frustrating to the Day Chairman  than the members’ refusal to take part. Take the most  common  case of participation in the weekly program. This is really the first chance given to be part of Rotary…but many a member would rather sit back and just watch rather than participate…they would refuse any assignment for the flimsiest excuse!

     A Rotarian who declines to take part in club activities will most likely refuse to get involved in community projects.  He could never be called upon to  contribute physically in Rotary’s efforts to improve the quality of life in his surroundings. He feels that it’s enough that he pays his dues …attends all meetings and social functions.

     The Rotarian is imbued with “Service Above Self”. He cares about his club and Community. It bothers him that there are people who get sick or die without medical attention…people who go to bed hungry at night…children who are doomed to the eternal darkness of illiteracy.  He feels “violated” when people are persecuted because of their religious   belief, their political thoughts.  He is moved by injustice in any form. And he reacts.

     These are big words, one might say. But that is the meaning of Rotary… and we start with the basics, such as participation in the club’s

activities and programs. Why did you join Rotary?  Why are you still in Rotary?

     Think about it…

Smile-Sing A Song (B Flat)

Smile– and the world smiles with you,

    - sing a song.

Don’t be weary,

    just be cheery all day long.

Whenever your trials,

    your troubles and your care.

Seem to be more than you can really bear;

Smile– and the world smiles with you,

    - Sing a Song.

Roll On, Rotarians (D)

Tune: “Bear Barrel Polka”

Roll on, Rotarians -

Roll on and spread your good cheer;

Roll on, Rotarians -

Sing, so the whole world can hear.

Rot’ry wheels are moving -

Serving both those far and near;

If your want to WORK with Rot’ry.

Join the Gang Right Here!

Sing for the Joy of Singing
