the SALT Summit hosted by the Department Of Health and the Provincial
Government. This program is to encourage the 100% use of iodized salt by all
household and food establishments. One of the outcome fo the program is how
the NGOs, like the Rotary Club, can participate in this campaign. One of the
ideas that came to my mind was the suggestion of IPP Jerome to make this a
livelihood project for one of our RVC/RCCs. The Municipal Government or the
BFAD has committed to provide the training and initial raw materials on
producing iodize salt. For this week’s activities, on March 15,
Friday, we will formally open the Plant Nursery at Sudipen Central School
where it will initially house 5,000 tree seedlings as part of our project in
disaster prevention and “Mini Forest in a School”. With this nursery, we will
be assured of a continuous supply of seedlings and formally establishing
another continuing project (the first is our pig dispersal) for the future of
our club and its leaders. Next is the follow up on our feeding program at
Brgy. Mindoro, Bangar. This Sunday, March 17, we will be having
our 6th Medical Mission at the Municipality Bagulin, our target is 200
patients. This is in coordination with the La Union Medical Society and the
Inner Wheel Club. |

had an
initial meeting with the organizers of Pedi Kamp, which has partnered with
our club in hosting the Pedia Kamp on April 17-26, here in San Fernando City.
Around 250 special childrens from this city and manila will be here to
participate and around 225 volunteers with them. And last Friday, March 8, we finally
started the construction of the New Rotary Service and Youth Training Center.
A short ceremony was conducted with both members of the club and our
Innerwheel. Present were PP Cres, PP Albert, PP Ferdie, Dir Reggie, Dir Jun,
VP Rex, Treas. Arnel, Rtn. Edward Dy, and Rtn Ronald. Hopefully, with the
support of the general membership, we can finish the training center before
our next anniversary. Also on the same day, we proceeded to
Angeles City for the PESETS of our Incoming President Rex and Secretary
Reggie. We also took this opportunity to campaign for the attendance of the
incoming District Assembly 2002, where our club will play host. My thanks to
Dir Jun, PDG Ces and PP Rey Nisce who took charge of the distribution of the
communications with all incoming presidents. Last Tuesday, March 12, 2002, I also at |
