Another Busy Week!

Last week's club assembly turned out good. But I expected a more home club attendance, especially from the younger Rotarians. We only had a 75.56% home club attendance unlike during our Induction when we had a trooping of  91.11%. The presentations of the Four Avenues Directors were enormous. The plans we have for the next 12 months are, like they say in RCSFU, "nothing easy would be worth our effort". My thanks to the Past Presidents and members for giving their valuable comments and ideas with regard to our projects.
We had our first official board meeting last Tuesday at Hotel Mikka. Some of the more urgent matters were discussed, one of which was the hosting of the Membership Development and Retention Seminar on Aug 18, 2001. I would like to appeal to the various committee chairs for their full cooperation.

Last Friday the province celebrated  Nutrition Month. Our club, in cooperation with the Municipal Nutrition Council and the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando La Union launched the Feeding Programs in Barangays Sibuan Otong and Tanquigan  We plan to continue this program, and hopefully zero out malnutrition thru proper education.
Lastly, the officers and directors of the club was invited by our City Mayor, Mary Jane Ortega, to a meeting regarding a proposed project for the relocation of squatters and fisher folks residing at the seashores and calamity prone areas. The project proved to be very challenging since our club will be tasked in building a new community. Further details will be discussed as soon as we get a more detailed information regarding the project.

July 5: Typhoon Feria made a big whip in Northern Luzon, and there was a job for RCSFU...Service we rendered!

July 6: We attended the RC Baguio Induction. How can we ever abandon  our Mother Club?! We also went to RC Dagupan Induction on July 11

July 10: Our first meeting, a Club
Assembly.

Newest Rotarian: Edward Dy. He was inducted on July 10, sponsored by Rtn Arnel Chanpinco. Welcome to the best club !

July 10, 6:45 PM: Our first grueling  Board Meeting. Meet till you drop asleep!

For two consecutive Tuesdays the club officers had to go home the following Wednesday morning. Both nights threatened by an approaching typhoon. Unlike the first time however, it was all serious business the second Tuesday. I am referring to the 1st board meeting hosted by Pres. Richard last July 10. The meeting started around 6:40 PM and lasted up to 12:15 AM the following morning.
We talked about topics such as this year's budget, 3H grant, the Membership Growth Seminar, etc. Every detail of these projects were deliberated and tackled by those present. It was a hair rising moment witnessing the offi

cers working hard and sacrificing family time to assure another successful year for our club. In fact we were even kidding that this kind of board meeting will intimidate prospective club presidents into accepting the position.
This year's success, however, won't be realized if we, members, won't do our part. We officers will depend more on you this year. If only we can give our share even in small details, like simply, submitting a 1x1 picture for our ID system. Little things like this will make it easier for us and give us more time in tackling bigger concerns of our club.

July 14: Feeding Program in Sibuan Otong. Want to be as big as our President?

July 13: A courtesy call with City of San Fernando Mayor, Hon. Mary Jane Ortega. More projects in the offing?!
