I'm sorry if I can't be with you today. I have to undergo some diagnostic tests at the Philippine Heart Center but I will be back soon to enjoy our Club's fellowship. Anyway I am sure VP TANTE Licudine will do a good job in today's club meeting. Despite my absence, I would like to greet our Guest of Honor, the young and dashing Mayor of Bauang, the Honorable EULOGIO CLARENCE MARTIN P. DE GUZMAN III. Last week, we had Congressman 'TET' GARCIA, the public servant making waves on the national level. Now, we have another public servant who is doing the same thing at the local government level, winning a national award. Congratulations, Mayor de Guzman!
We had a very fruitful Board meeting and an excellent dinner at Café Esperanza the previous Tuesday hosted by Dir. JERRY Parlan. We made a lot of plans which we hope we shall be able to implement the coming weeks. I would like to thank Directors RICHARD, REX and VP TANTE for taking care of the Job Fair at La Union National High School last Thursday. I was in Balaoan attending to a court call. All the job application forms printed were filled up and so we now have a ready pool for those of you who are looking people to hire.
The Municipal Government of Balaoan is also requesting from us some books for their Municipal Library. If each member of our Club just donates one ;book, that would amount to 60 books all and all. However, if you can give 2 or more books that would be very welcome.
Thanks to PE RICHARD, Dir. JUN T., IPP ALBERT, A/Sec. FRANK and Rotarians ROMY C., ARNEL Chanpinco and ALAN SY as well as our UCC Rotaract Club who took part in he Alay Lakad and Linis last Sunday, September 17, 2000, while I was recuperating at Lorma Medical Center. Thanks also to all the well wishers who bid me a quick recovery. I'll soon be back to lead our Club in each upcoming activities.
By the way I wish to remind our Club again of the RVC Seminar this coming Saturday, Sept. 23 in Balanga, Bataan from 9 AM TO 4 PM Venue will be at the Lou-is Restaurant. We will make arrangements regarding transportation for those who will attend. Lastly, today's meeting is the end of Round II of our intra-club of our intra-club competition. Choice of Guest Speaker shall now be the responsibility of each group for the following rounds. Only if the group fails to come up with a speaker will the Board of Directors provide one, but no credit will be given to the group.
