Things seem to have gotten off to a slow start at last Tuesday's joint meeting of the Rotary Clubs of San Fernando City. YOURS TRULY was the Master of Ceremonies and Sec. DIEGO was the Day Chairman. I must admit that I was a little nervous when I looked at my watch and it was 12:27 and there were few people in attendance; much less were the participants of the Day's program. To make matters worse, the Club Bulletin was not yet around and the MC (ME) did not know what was going on. I kept having to ask the DC who was next on the line-up. I apologize for this. I should have been better prepared.
The meeting finally started around 12:35. YOURS TRULY "filled in" with the prayer, minus the 4-Way Test. Rtn. ALEX "filled in" and led us in the Pambansang Awit. With the Inner Wheel ladies present all the various members of the other Rotary Club, Rtn. EDWARD had a very BIG job to do with his Welcome and Greetings, but as usual, he is always up to the task. The birthday celebrant was none other than PP CRES, who treated all of us to two scoops of ice cream. Thanks, PP CRES, we needed that…
For the first time in thirteen years, PP TONY was asked to lead a Friendship session. He continued with the same theme that he used thirteen years earlier, "Name That Tune". Most of the tunes were "Oldies, But Goodies." I am glad he did not call on me. The tunes were all before my time. It is always fun to see if we can guess the right answer. During his President's Time, Pres. JEROME brought us up-to-date on the latest happenings in the world of RCSFU, and even played little "Jingle" for us.
Sec. DIEGO had the privilege of introducing our special Guest of Honor and Speaker, the Honorable Enrique T. "Tet" Garcia, Jr., Representative, 2nd District ,Bataan. Congressman Garcia spoke on the subject that he has great knowledge about. This was proven during his well- prepared speech and the open forum that followed. Thank you, Congressman Garcia, for taking time out of your very busy schedule to be with us.
PP DAN gave a most appropriate response and the meeting was adjourned at 2:20 P.M. And the nervous MC was finally able to relax…..
