ROTARY-IN-ACTION

The Fire  which hit the Mabanag Compound was a tragedy but it brought out the best in our club. Many of our Rotarian members came and helped in bringing out property and guarding them from looters

The "Buwan ng Wika" celebration held in our adopted school, the North Central School in Tanqui, was a lively affair. There was singing and dancing and a comedy skit which parodied our political leaders. The kids who  mimicked "Imelda", "Cory", "Fidel", and "Erap", could put Willie Nepomuceno and Jon Santos out of business.

Launching of the Herbal Garden contest was also held in our adopted schools in Tanqui. This project is jointly sponsored by our Rotary Club and our Inner Wheel Club. In the picture we see a teacher of the North Central School pose with the medicinal plants her students would use for their garden. Final judging shall be at the end of September.

Congratulations to Dr. Pilar Ruby Buenaventura who was recently inducted as the 11th President of UCC Colleges. Beside her is Rotarian-Husband, Frank Buenaventura. Ever helpful, Frank and Pilar have offered their  home in the UCC Compound as the temporary office of our club, since the former one was affected by the Red Cross fire.

President Jerome presents Lydia with a brand new "Talk n'
Text" cellphone. The unit is inexpensive but provides adequate service. Since our Club has a landline & since most of the calls are incoming, Lydia will only be needing a P300 or less phone card monthly. Note that she will be giving up a pager which requires P500 monthly to maintain. So we will be saving money in the long run.

Presentation of our club plans to Mayor Mary Jane Ortega. The Mayor was pleased with our plans but she challenged us to adopt the problematic barangay of San Agustin, located at the coastal area of San Fernando.
