PREXY'S NOOK
PRES. JEROME GAERLAN

GUEST SPEAKER
HON. ENRIQUE 'TET' T. GARCIA, JR.

I would like to greet our Guest of honor and Speaker, the Honorable Congressman 'Tet' Garcia who is the author of the controversial "Oil Exchange" bill now pending in Congress. The prices of petroleum products are skyrocketing, raising prices of other basic commodities. A person says he has a way of bring down these prices and he is for hailed as a hero by some and called a crackpot by others. Others think that he is only after the publicity mileage. Now, members of our club and other Rotary Club in our area will get a chance to hear to this person defend his proposed law in our meeting.
I would also like to thank our club members who participated in our activities last week . This include the "Buwan ng Pambansang Wika" celebration and the launching of the herbal garden contest in our adopted schools, and also our visit to our Mayor Mary Jane Ortega.
Our Mayor gave our presentation of plans and accomplishments the nod, but she challenged us to add a project to our list. She requested us to adopt Barangay San Agustin which is mired in poverty, sickness and worst of all, apathy. Our Mayor also allowed to make use of the town plaza for our Job and Trade Fair from October 1-15 2000. Thanks a lot Madame Mayor.
I would also like to thank the Rotarians who accompanied me when we attended the Investiture of Doctor Pilar Ruby Buenaventura, the Ann of assistant secretary Frank Buenaventura, as UCC College 11th President. Congratulations again to Manong Frank and Manang Pilar.
I would also like to remind the members of our club of the upcoming Alay -Lakad and Linis Project of the City Government this coming Sunday Sept. 17. Rotarians will spearhead the activity so I'm enjoining everyone to show support. We shall also be having our RVC Seminar on Sept. 23, Saturday, at Balanga Bataan. Our Club shall be presenting a success story, so members, please be there.
Lastly I am reprinting in full, the letter I just received from our Governor Bennie Uy.

Dear President Jerome:
I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks for your warm reception during our Governor's Visit. Your plans and objectives for this Rotary Year 2000-2001 will definitely go a long, long way that will benefit our community and with your expertise and leadership I am very sure it will be a fruitful and successful Rotary Year.
I wish to congratulate your club for your very significant and well-balanced Service Projects and for your future generous contributions to the Rotary Foundation. I also wish to further emphasize the need to increase membership, for we can never over emphasize, the need to increase membership so as to be able to have more hands fueling our club for the benefit of our community. Let us look into our unfilled Classification and fill them up and make our club a DIAMOND CLUB with seventy five (75) membership or even a CENTURION CLUB with one hundred (100) membership.
Your unparalleled dedication and untiring commitment in making our Governor's Visit successful will definitely play a significant role that will lead to the achievement of our goals and objectives for this Rotary Year.
Together with my spouse Lisa, please accept our humble Thank You . We wish you all the best for the Rotary Year as we Create Awareness and Take Action.
Keep up the good work and more power!

Sincerely Yours,
