ROTARY-IN-ACTION

TUESDAY THAT WAS
DAVE PARKMAN

It seemed like it was "International Affair" at the regular Tuesday luncheon meeting of RCSFU. There were Japanese, Swedish, American, and Filipino visitors for the day's meeting. After all, Rotary is truly an "International" organization. It's appeal, influence, and helping hands reach around the world. Our Club, though it might seem small as compared to others, should do no less.

Rtn. TERRY, as the Master of Ceremonies, asked Pres. JEROME to call the meeting to order at precisely 12:30, and, as they say, we were off and running. PD TIM breezed in just in time to lead in the prayer (he was a little out of breath) and the 4-Way Test. The "ever present" A/Sec. FRANK was called upon to lead in the Pambansang Awit. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, Group II was in charge of the day's program.

Special musical entertainment was provided by the lovely Audrie Gonzales, who even had a more lovelier voice as she serenaded the Rotarians. Thank you Audrie for coming and for sharing your special gift of music with us. I really thought that PP CANOR did an outstanding job pronouncing all those foreign names during the Welcome and Greetings portion of the program. This just proves the point that Filipinos have an "International" tongue. This week PP KIT and PP DAN were celebrating birthdays this week. Congratulations guys and we hope and pray that you will have many more years.

During the Friendship Session PP BOB informed the Rotarians of the tragic high school shooting in southern California that took the life of the grandson of PP RUFI. Our sentiments and our prayers are certainly with the family during this very difficult time. PP BOB stated that the schools in America have become the modern day "killing fields". It sure seems that way. We all need to be in prayer for America.
During his President's Time, Pres. JEROME introduced our two visitors from Japan and had the official exchange of Rotary banners, even though the visitors were members of the YMCA. I am still trying to figure all of that out…..

PD RAY E. was given the privilege of introducing our Guest of Honor and Speaker. I think it is because PD RAY is not running for any political office in the coming May elections. Our Guest speaker was none other than Atty. Alipio S. Castillo III, Regional Elections Attorney, COMELEC Region I. Atty. Castillo gave a very general and brief talk on the COMELEC's role in the forthcoming May elections. Also with him on the platform were the San Fernando City COMELEC chairman as well and the COMELEC representative from Pangasinan.

There was a short, but very productive, open forum that followed the speech. PP VIR did a very good job with the proper response and the meeting was adjourned around 2:00 P.M.
