Group One was in charge of the day's meeting. PP BEN was the Day Chairman and Rtn. ROMY D. served as the Master of Ceremonies. At precisely 12:30 Pres. JEROME rang the "big" bell and the meeting was off and running. It was good to see PP JIM "back in the saddle" and leading our opening prayer again. I really like the way PP JIM prays. It sounds like he does it on a regular basis, as we all should. The only problem is that PP JIM does not know or forgot to lead us in the 4-Way Test. Never fear, our MC "filled in" and did the job. Rtn. ROMY C, then was asked to lead us in the Pambansang Awit and with the musical accompaniment, he always does a good job. Rtn. JOSEPH did a great job with the Welcoming and Greetings. For a change, all the celebrants were present. VP TANTE, PP TONY and Dir. JERRY were all celebrating their birthdays. Pres. JEROME and wife Jei celebrated their wedding anniversary. Congratulations to all and thanks for the double scoop of ice cream. We needed that….. PP ARSING "filled in" as the Fine-master for the day. The "always ready" PP ARSING asked the Rotarians some spontaneous questions concerning the heart, since it is "heart month." Of course everyone had a great time and a few bucks was raised for the Club. Pres. JEROME shared his time with visiting perspective RCSFU member, Billy Teninty , who just arrived from the U.S. He wanted to come and officially thank RCSFU for sponsoring The Rotary Foundation project that he is now involved in here in the San Fernando area. Dir. JERRY spoke as he brought us up-to-date on the group competition contest. Guess who is leading? Rtn. RIC had the honor of introducing our Guest of Honor and Speaker, Brenda M. Espinosa, MD, FPCS, FPCC. Most of us know Brenda. She is a member of the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando and the wife of Rtn. RAY Espinosa. Brenda is a heart specialist and spoke on "People Empowerment", or "becoming aware of the problems that causes damage or injury to your heart." For your information, some of the risk factors for a heart attack are sex, age, family history, smoking, diabetes, obesity, and cholesterol. A free heart and cholesterol check-up was offered to the Rotarians courtesy of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. A very well prepared presentation by a very talented and gifted Rotary Ann. A short open forum followed and the meeting was adjourned shortly after 2:00 P.M.
