TUESDAY THAT WAS
Rtn. DAVE PARKMAN

This was the first meeting that the new "group" method was used.  Participants of the program came from Group 1. The Day Chairman and Master of Ceremonies was PP BEN, whose watch seemed to be about five minutes low.  No need to worry because Pres. JEROME had the right time and made sure the meeting started on time.  In Rotary, the Presidents time is  the official time.

The Club's two ROMYS led in the opening part of the program. Rtn. ROMY D. did the Prayer and 4-Way Test.  Rtn. ROMY C. did the Pambansang Awit.  After a short luncheon period, MC/PP BEN, "pitched in" as he called it from Rtn. NINOY who was in surgery some place (as the physician, not the patient.)  The wedding celebrants PP BOB and EMMA were a "No Show."  They were probably in some romantic place celebrating there wedding anniversary.  Sec. DIEGO gave a very nice Secretary's Report. It seems like he is beginning to get a feel for the job.

There is no truth to the rumor that MC/PP BEN was trying to monopolize the program as he "filled in" for Friendship Session  There are times when the MC just has to do those things.  MC/PP BEN asked the question, "If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do?"  He ;got quite a variety of responses, some very spiritual and some not so spiritual.  Pres. JEROME seems to be getting ;more comfortable in his new job as Club President.  He seemed a little more relaxed during his President's Time.

Editor ALLAN A. did a wonderful job introducing our Guest Speaker, keeping it short and to the point.  It was good  he did not try to read all the bio-data that was printed in the Gold Leaf, which was too long and extensive. Our Guest of Honor and Speaker was none other than Mr. Charlie Cruz, who was one of the T.O.S.P contest works.  He stated that poverty should be no hindrance to achieving an education and advancement in life.  His speech was "short and sweet."  And…by the way that he conducted himself and answered the questions in the open forum, I think he is one of the TOP OUTSTANDING CHRISTIANS IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Pres. JEROME then adjourned the meeting, but continued on with the program, which I thought was kind of strange. The students from DMMMSU Mid-La Union Campus finally arrived and Pres. JEROME inducted the new officers of the Interact Club.

Both meetings were finally adjourned before the 2:00 P.M. deadline.
