TUESDAY THAT WAS
DAVE PARKMAN

It feels like I'm in San Fernando City, La Union Philippines even though I am in the Unites States.  Why?  Well, I am still in the "12:30PM Tuesday meeting mode" and I am currently rushing my article for today's Gold Leaf.  I hope you find this editorial (my first International correspondence) interesting and at the same time, entertaining!

So, for this editorial I would like to write about how I was able to locate a Rotary International location abroad and where those groups meet at their respective locations.

Perhaps the best resource to locate other Rotary International locations is the Internet.  Rotary International's website is http://www.rotary.org.

Upon arriving at the website, you will find information on the Rotary Club, different membership services and even a link to Frank Devlyn's personal website.  There is also a "Popular Destinations" section at the middle section of the site that resembles a list similar to hot links.  It is here where you will find "Where clubs meet":  the link that will assist you identify where the Rotary Club will meet at your particular destination.

Clicking on the "Where clubs meet," will bring you to a search engine where you can type the city of your destination and then click "Submit Name" (if you know the district number, you can type that, too).  Results will return the closest matches and a district button which when clicked, will list all clubs in the district, the time and place of their meetings.  A phone number will also be listed to contact them directly.

Well, I hope that this gives you a better grasp on how to locate other Rotary International groups worldwide and that I have somehow contributed to your maintaining our 100% club attendance (anything would help, right Dir. Jerry?).

Just as I am preparing to attend tomorrow night's meeting (RI District 5890 Tuesdays at 7:30PM), I am working on maintaining my 100% attendance.

Stay tuned next week for more!  ---  AAA

Siglet of the Week: "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."   --George Bernard Shaw

YOURS TRULY was the Day Chairman and Master of Ceremonies, and it was Group III's time to be in charge of the program. The meeting started promptly at 12:30 as Pres. JEROME called our meeting to order. One of RCSFU's best singers, PP TONY led us in the Pambansang Awit and Rtn. ALEX did a great job with the opening prayer.

Treas. ERNIE arrived in just time to do his part as the official Greeter. Two of our wedding celebrants were present. These were PP TONY and Sophia Yee, and Rtn. RUEL and Mel Tana. Also, birthday celebrant, Sec. DIEGO was present. Special congratulations goes out to these special people and, thanks for the ice cream. We needed that…

New Rotarian, ROBERT, gave a classification talk on his field of expertise, which is Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Rtn. EDWARD followed with a very unusual Fining Session. You can count on Rtn. EDWARD to always come up with something different. This time he had some of our Past Presidents and one "baby Rotarian", along with the incumbent President and the Incoming President measuring their waistlines. They had to pay so much for every inch beyond the minimum measurement of 34". Some of the guys had to pay "big bucks".

According to his own words, Pres. JEROME "talked till he ran out of things to say". It would be good for all of us to learn this lesson. Sec. DIEGO had the privilege of introducing our Guest of Honor and Speaker. Once again, we had a beautiful young lady speaking before us. She was none other than Mrs. Marilene C. Acosta, Regional Manager, Pab-Ibig Fund, Region I. As per her own words, her talk seemed more like a "Classification Talk". Mrs. Acosta thoroughly acquainted us with the workings of the Pag-Ibig Fund. She completely explained all the different aspects of the program, as well as who could be a member and who could benefit from the Pag-Ibig Fund. All in all, it was a job well done. An open forum followed.

Wedding celebrant, Rtn. RUEL gave a very nice response and the meeting was adjourned at 1:47 P.M.
