World Understanding Month

"World Understanding Month" is observed annually, during February, as a special month in which clubs are urged to present club programs and other activities especially emphasizing understanding and goodwill as essential for world peace and with programs structured around World Community Service.

February 23rd, the anniversary of the first Rotary club meeting, is observed as World Understanding and Peace Day. Each club should, on that day, give special recognition and emphasis to Rotary's commitment to international understanding, friendship and peace

It does something to us

Rotary was founded to make men less lonely, and more useful. Diversity in membership and unity in purpose are the unique ingredients in each of the 1,180,550 in 163 countries.

The weekly meeting is fundamental. Attendance is mandatory. Acquaintance is available. Fellowship is attainable.

The meeting and eating together, the talking and listening, the laughing and learning together - this shared experience does something to each Rotarian - something significant and stimulating in his life, and in the lives of others, inside and outside his Club.

Rotarians are realistic enough to know that Rotary is not the key to all doors, and not the answer to all problems.

But, the Rotary spirit of friendly service is a tangible, and intangible, part of our hopes and plans for a better world.
