PREXY'S NOOK
PRES. JEROME GAERLAN

A ROTARIAN QUERY TO
TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Greetings!  Today is an important day because it is our Club Assembly in preparation for the official visit of the District Governor. The Club Directors shall present  the club objectives and initial accomplishments to the general membership for their perusal. Note that the District Governor ordinarily visits a club just three (3) times during his term. This is during the Club Induction, Anniversary   and the Official Governor's Visit. In the first two, the Governor's functions are purely ceremonial. It is only during the Official Visit that the District Governor goes down to the 'nitty-gritty' business of governing. He sits down with the club president and officers and questions their directions and targets, providing suggestions and alternatives when necessary. So we want to leave a good impression, since the District Governor is not here very often.  We enjoin everyone in our Club to give  their 'inputs'. It is true that  "too many cooks may spoil the broth," but we are not 'cooking' for our District Governor. The more appropriate adage is " Sixty heads are better than six."

Today our Club Service Director Jerry Parlan, shall also present the 'scores' for each team  after the first  rotation. If your team is lagging behind, there is still time to catch up. Prizes shall be given after the third rotation.

We wish to thank the Inner Wheel Club of  SFU for inviting us during their first regular meeting. A lot of Rotarians attended, which means that the 'Anns' still have a lot of clout with their 'husbands'.  Let me mention however that the very supportive Rotarian Allan Sy was there despite being  a bachelor.

Yesterday, we has another "Career Guidance" seminar, this time in LORMA high school. Congratulations again to Director Richard Dy and Career Development Committee Chair Reggie Chan and thanks to all who participated in this endeavor. We had to make 'lagari' because immediately after the career guidance  seminar, we had to go to UCC to attend the Induction of our Rotaract Club in UCC College. Thanks again to all who made this event possible especially to Asst. Secretary Frank Buenaventura, who organized the Rotaract Club.

Tomorrow, we will be at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center Pediatrics Department to attend the Well-baby Contest which we are sponsoring. The Well baby Contest is really divided into eight (8) contests and four (4) games for the toddlers. It will be a 'fun affair', so please be there.
Lastly, this coming August 19, Saturday, will be our Area Membership Development Seminar, at the Sea and Sky Hotel. This will be counted as a District Affair, so every registered member of our club will count. We promised President Minda Smith of the Metro San Fernando La Union Club, the sponsor of the event, at least 12 participants from their mother club. Those who are interested in joining, please get in touch with Club Service Director Jerry Parlan.

Dear Computer Wizard PE Richard Dy,

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing immediately that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of such phenomenon was included in the product brochure and I was unable to claim warranty. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself automatically into all other programs and launched during system initialization where it monitors all other system activities. Applications such as KaraOk-Night 10.3 and Beerbash 2.5 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I cannot seem to purge Wife 1.0 from my system. I am thinking about going back to Girlfriend 1.0 but uninstall does not work on this program. Can you help me?

Dear Rtn. Rex,

This is a very common problem men complain about but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is a "UTILITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT" program. In fact, Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM" and designed by its creator to run everything. It is impossible to uninstall, delete or purge the program from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 1.0 because Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this. Some have tried to install Girlfriend 2.0 or Wife 2.0 but ended up with more problems than the original system. Look in your manual under WARNINGS: Alimony/Child Support. I recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and just deal with the situation. I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General Protection Faults (GPFs). You must assume all responsibility for faults and problems that might occur. The best course of action will be to push the "apologize" button followed by the "reset" button as soon as lock-up occurs. System will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program but requires high maintenance.

        Rtn. Wizard Richard

P.S. Do not attempt to install illegal programs like Mistress 1.0 which is currently circulating both locally and overseas. Such programs once detected by Wife 1.0 will result in irrecoverable and unimaginable damages and cost of repair may incur very high fee and time.
