t was the first INTER-CITY MEETING of this Rotary Year.  Both the La Union and Ilocos Sur Rooms were filled to capacity with Rotarians from various Rotary Clubs in the Province.  It is always good to have fellowship with the Rotarians from other Clubs.  We should have this type of meeting more often.  The Presidential Table was expanded to accommodate all the Presidents of the various Rotary Clubs and our Special Guest for the meeting.  After the meeting was called to order PP GEORGE DULAY from RC Northern La Union led us in the Pambansang Awit.  PP BOB CHAMBERS from RC San Fernando LU North led us in the most appropriate prayer for this special meeting.

Due to long and important program for the day's meeting, there was no real intermission for the luncheon.  The Rotarians just continued enjoying their lunch as the program continued on.  PP JOEDUMS DUMUK from RC San Juan, did an excellent job recognizing all the important people and greetings to the meeting.  We then dispensed with the normal way of doing things and went right to the introduction of our Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Rtn. MALOU RIVERA from RC Metro San Fernando LU, was called upon to introduce our very special Guest Speaker, HON. RODOLFO T. REYES, who is the Press Secretary for the President of the Philippines.  Mr. Reyes enlightened the Rotarians of La Union on the proposed plans to amend the Constitution of the Philippines.  He focused on the positive benefits that would result from such amendments.  For those of us who really knew very little about the pros and cons of the proposed changes to the constitution, it was an enlightening experience.  Thank you Mr. Reyes for taking time out of your very busy schedule to be with us.  Both Rotarian/Governor TITO ORROS and Rotary Ann/Mayor MARY JANE ORTEGA gave excellent responses, but it was PP IVES who "hit the nail on the head" (an old Texas term) when he said that the Rotarians found Mr. Reyes to be an honest, respectable and humble public servant.  And that he is…

The meeting was adjourned around 2:00 P. M.  Again it seemed like Rotarians did not want to leave.  Pictures were taken and greetings were extended.
A fitting ending to a very special meeting.
