EAT MEETING! From the very start, it seemed like the room was packed with Rotarians and Guests. There was excitement in the air. Rotarians were enjoying fellowship with one another. This is the way that it always should be... and most of the time it is this way at RCSFU.
By the time I arrived ( at around 12:35 ), A/Ed. ROMY de C. had already prayed and led the Rotarians in the 4-Way Test and IPP FERDINAND did his assignment leading the Pambansang Awit. With such a full program and room, there seemed to be no real time to break for lunch. Sec/PP TONY gave his report and read a letter of resignation from Fr. Glenn Gomez, who is resigning because of his studies in Manila.
PP ARSING then welcomed the many guests that were present and the lone birthday celebrant who was present, PP KIT. Rtn. RAY E. who is the only Neurologist in the Ilocos Region, gave a very good Classification Talk. Babynette Beljica invited Rotarians to a forum on Stress Management. She probably knows that Rotarians sometimes live and work under stressful conditions. IP/Dir. JEROME then introduced the winners of the On-the-Spot Essay Writing Contest on the "4-Way Test Values." All three college students received a beautiful plaque from the Club and monetary reward for a job well done. PD PAQUING was in charge of the Fining Session and he did an excellent job poking fun at lawyers. He, no doubt, rekindled the friendly rival between doctors and lawyers. It was a good time that

Pres. ALBERT was running out of time, so he made his time really short to give way to our Guest Speaker. What a GREAT PRESIDENT!
I couldn't understand why they asked a doctor ( PP ANDY ) to introduce our Guest Speaker, who is a lawyer. Nevertheless, it worked out really well and PP ANDY did the great job that he usually does. Our Guest of Honor and Speaker was the celebrated ATTY. PEDRO S. PRINCIPE. I really like this guy. He sounded like a PREACHER. He certainly kept everyone's attention. His topic dealt with possible ways to combat crime and corruption in our society. In spite of coming all the way from Bocaue, Bulacan, he kept to his time limit. The meeting was extended for a few minutes, but that was only because there were so many questions during the open forum. Atty. Principe did an excellent job and surely will be invited back again some day to speak at our Club.
PDG CES gave the appropriate response and the meeting was adjourned at 2:12 P.M. Oh by the way, did I mention that PP MARC was the Day Chairman and Master of Ceremonies. Thank you PP MARC for putting together such a great program.

st week can be considered as one of the most bustling week for most of us Rotarians for reasons that the week was filled with many activities. To start off, we have started the week with an Occupational & Career Placement Seminar last March 7, 2000 at Saint Louis College. There were at least 100 graduating college students in attendance from the various departments of Accounting, Secretarial and Marketing. The seminar was aimed at providing answers to the most common queries graduating students have particularly on employment. The seminar started at around 8:00 A.M. and surprisingly, all the Rotarians who were tasked to speak during that day arrived noting that some of them consider that said schedule as an early morning appointment. Anyhow, I am thankful of the sacrifice that you have made in order to attend the said seminar and in imparting your know-how to the graduating students who might even land a job in your own offices.
The seminar which was followed by our regular luncheon meeting with Atty. Pete Principe as Guest Speaker is another activity worth mentioning. His speech clearly mentions the need for those in authority in our judiciary to practice the 4 Way Test to minimize, if not to eliminate, graft and corruption and to facilitate fast and efficient execution of justice.
In connection with one of our major project RA2K (Rotary Academy 2000), we have just concluded last March 10, 2000 the 1st Seminar about Rotary in our area. It is a rare opportunity in La Union area to organize such an activity. It was fortunate, all the Rotary Clubs of La Union

The Seminar is designed to promote Rotary, its functions & definition to prospective Rotarians, new Rotarians and refreshes information to the old Rotarians. It is further aimed at promoting better awareness and understanding of the Rotary World, thereby making those in the Rotary be more service-oriented rather than merely after the stigma of being called a Rotarian. March 10 did not actually end without a big bang, literally and figuratively, when we organized a Thematic Band Competition dubbed as LUNG BANDA 2000. The competition started around 7:45 P.M. at DMMMSU. The purpose of this kind of endeavor is not only to recognize the God given talents of the youth but to take the opportunity to inform them our campaign on smoking cessation. Incidentally, our deepest gratitude to Mc Donald's La Union headed by Rtn. Alan Sy who co-sponsored this band competition. I am proud to inform you that we have conveyed a Leadership Award to Miss Rhomelyn Hufana for her exemplary leadership and contribution to the Rotary as Rotaract President during her graduation last March 11, 2000. Miss Hufana graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, CUM LAUDE. The Rotarians are truly proud of your achievements Miss Hufana and for being a part of Rotary. As it has always been, one of our concerns is the youth. Today, we have with us the newly crowned Miss San Fernando and her court to share with us their visions and plans for our community most especially to the youth. I am just really amazed with the initiative of almost all the members with their good natures to
