Last Thursday, March 2, 2000 we, together with Rtns. REGGIE CHAN and ARNEL CHANPINCO, VPE TANTE LICUDINE, PP/ ADDG VIR CABADING, Sec./ PP TONY YEE, PP CRES FERNANDEZ, PP ALDY DY and our Pres. ALBERT DY, had attended the 2nd Inter-City Meeting at Sea & Sky Hotel of which the Ambassador of Goodwill from Israel was the Guest of Honor & Speaker. Our Sec. Tony "filled in" for the Welcome & Greetings portion which supposedly rendered by VINO TORRICER, who unfortunately didn't show up for the occasion. ( It's La Union Day Holiday ) I presumed its the same reason why many of the Rotarians didn't attend that night. Many tables have left unoccupied up to the last minute of the meeting. Nevertheless, 'twas a worthwhile activity, since we were updated on what's new and up for the Israeli Government and it's upcoming projects and long term plan for the Filipino community. Its worth noting that our very own PP ALDY DY who did a very wondrous task in turning back the compliments to the Israeli Ambassador during his RESPONSE. The meeting was ended nearly 9 PM. Anyway, the meeting didn't start, as what was scheduled earlier. Our President was right about this contention.

FATHERING AN RVC
k a man what is responsible for in raising children, you will invariably get the answer that his primary duty is to serve as breadwinner. Parenting experts however, say that providing financial support to the family belongs to the lower rungs in a father's job description. In the same manner, setting-up a Rotary Village Corps by a well-meaning Rotary Club involves more than registration, oath taking of officers and providing financial assistance. Rotarians know that helping people themselves is much like fathering children, a task which is guided by time-tested principles.
BE A FRIEND
Trust and confidence is a basic requirement in any relationship. A friend is always ready to listen; concerns, valid or otherwise. Friendship means being constantly available at the time of need, whether it is for problem-solving or fellowship. A friend is never busy, bossy or arrogant.
BE A MENTOR
Once a friendship is attained, it becomes so easy to introduce fresh ideas and new ways of doing things.

Free flow of ideas between the RVC and Rotary Club brings forth community projects. Goals can then be planned and finalized. Rotary Clubs are in a better position to highlight successful RVC's in the district and discuss techniques and procedures through regular communication and dialogue. Open channels also guarantee a process where Rotary Club officers can learn from RVC leaders.
BE A PROVIDER
A Rotary Club is in the best position to share resources available to a global organization like Rotary. If you think RVC, thing likewise of matching grants, 3-H grants, WCS, Low Cost Housing Unit funds, medical and dental missions, disaster relief grants. Rotary clubs have also been sharing management expertise in marketing, production and finance.
The true measure of parenthood is to be able to set free an offspring into full independence, who is imbued with the spirit of service above self.
