got involved with Rotary through my friend Dir. Richard Dy. But before I joined the club, all I knew about Rotary was the 4 Way Test because I've seen it everywhere. I found it to be a very wise and practical way of making good judgment and decisions. Nevertheless, I never thought I would become a Rotarian someday. Not until Richard invited me to "sit-in" in the club's regular weekly meeting. I was not really interested in joining. It was for friendship's sake that I said yes to him. I didn't realize it was also for friendship's sake that he wanted to share with me his wonderful experiences in this club.
At this point of my early involvement, I am learning to appreciate Rotary, especially our group composed of many comedians. During meeting, we talk of relevant matters and issues but we never fail to have fun and laughter also.
Teamwork is also one thing I admire about our club. Everybody's given the chance to participate whether in the program or in certain projects. I remember I was just inducted, the following week they made me lead the Pambansang Awit. After that, Manang Lydia called me almost every week giving me assignments. Sometimes when my phone rings in the morning I'm afraid to answer it already. Even so, all the task that was given to me, difficult or easy, gave me the chance to improve myself.
Another thing I like about our club is fellowship. I enjoyed meeting people with different background, profession and personalities. I also got the chance to meet highly esteemed and prominent individuals of our community and discovered how warm, friendly and down-to-earth they are.
Lastly, for me Rotary is a great club because it cares for the community. Service Above Self is a Christian virtue that doesn't only help many people but also gives glory and honor to God. For this reason, I am and will always be offering myself for whatever contribution I can give, to the best of my ability, to this most prestigious club, the ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FERNANDO, L.U., INC.
