ying to set a precedent for Y2K, PP/Sec. TONY, who was the DC & MC for the day's meeting, got everyone seated shortly before 12:30.  At the beginning of the meeting, all the Club Directors were not present but hey eventually arrived a little late.  I believe that I have discovered the problem.  There is no two time pieces in the Philippines that has the same time.  Pres. ALBERT called the meeting to order.  A/ Ed. ROMY C. prayed the first Rotary Prayer for the new millennium.  Rtn. REGGIE led us in the first Pambansang Awit of the new year.  The first Rotary Meerting of the year got off to a smooth start, which is the norm of RCSFU.  Rtn. JERRY did a great job welcoming our guests to the meeting.  To set a wonderful precedent for the year, all the birthday celebrants were present.  PP ARSING represented Ann CHING, PP IVES stood in for his mother, ISING and, PP ALDY celebrated his own birthday.  Thanks for the double scoop of ice cream. We needed that.
Rtn. JUN stated that the Fining Session would be easy.  They all say that, but it never was.  Oh well, it is always fun to try and guess the answers to the questions.  Whether we know the answers or not, it is always in the spirit of fun and fellowship.  During the President's Time, PRES. ALBERT tried to explain the meaning of "XX SA Y2K".  It means that there are twenty major projects left to be done in the year 2000, or to be more precise, within the next six months.
Last Tuesday's meeting was a Club Assembly.  Each of our Directors gave a brief report on the major projects yet to be accomplished in their respective Avenue of Service.  This was without a doubt the shortest reports we have heard yet this Rotary Year.  I liked it because it was short and to the point.
During the Open Forum, PP ALDY gave a report on the recommendations of his committee on what to do with the damaged Rotary Service Center.  The Committee recommended that we go ahead and renew the property lease of the existing Rotary Service Center site ( it is only one peso a year for twenty years. )  They also stated that we should not repair the old Rotary Service Center ( estimated cost P200,000 ), but rather, look for a new location and construct a multi-purpose building.  The new building could be used for commercial purposes to raise money for Rotary projects as well as for a Rotary Service Center.  It was the general consensus of the Rotarians present that the Club follow the recommendations of the Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:45 PM.

BITS & SPICES… Take your pick.

Eloquence.
There was strong case against the man accused of bank robberry.  So strong was the plea put up by his lawyer, that the man was acquitted.  Later, when alone in his office with the man, the lawyer asked; "Now just between us Jim, you did rob the bank, didn't you?  "Well, sir, I'd kinda figured I'd had," admitted Jim.  "But since I heard you talk so eloquently, I am beginning to doubt it myself." ( an image offshoot  from the lawyers of the much celebrated VIZCONDE Massacre. )

Extinct Perhaps. The musical comedy star Ai-Ai de las Alas was once taken to Golden Acres Home for the Aged.  Looking around the room at the aged occupants, the trying hard English speaking comedianne Ms. delas Alas sighed, "My, my I have never been with such a lot of extinguished gentlemen before in all my life..,"

Careful, Careful! The elderly man had stood for sometime reading thru the names in the hotel register and the clerk was growing impatient.  "Just pleasesign your name on the line, sir," he urged.  But the old fellow glared at the clerk and snorted:  "Young man, I am old enough to have learned never to sign anything without reading it first."

GUILTY!
While visiting a public general school, the Secretary of Education became provoked at the noise the unruly students were making in the next room.  Angrily, he opened the door and grabbed one of the taller boys who seemed to be doing most of the talking.  He dragged the boy to the next room and stood him in the corner.  a few minutes later, a small boy stuck his head in the room and pleaded; "Please sir, may we have our teacher back?"

Gratitude.
"Good morning, Doctor, I just dropped in to tell you how much I am grateful and how much I've benefited from your treatment."  Doctor:  ( puzzled ) - "But you are not one of my patients."  Visitor"I know, but my father was and I'm his heir."

My deepest gratitude to the following Rotarians for their unselfish support bestowed upon us.  Dir. REX MENDOZA, Dir. ALI MORALES, Rtn. EDWARD GAERLAN, PE JEROME GAERLAN, Rtn. REGGIE CHAN, Rtn. ALLAN ALVAREZ, Rtn. JERRY PARLAN, Dir. RICHARD DY and not but the least Pres. ALBERT DY.  Your "presence" and assistance truly exhibit the genuine essence of SERVICE and BROTHERHOOD.
God Bless you all!
