ELECTION
day marks yet another crucial event in our local Club calendar of history, the Election of our Club's New Set of Officers for the Rotary Year 2000 - 2001. This particular activity plays a pivotal role in the selection of those able and capable Rotarians who would lead our Club in the next millenium years. Happy are those who would be chosen - for many are called.. but only a handful few are chosen. ( I presumed Rev. Dave and Pastor Romy would not oppose the statement ) Moments like this, wherever and whatever places, there is a universal practice of having a so called "preferred candidates/ nominees" among the voters. Its inevitable, specially that same individual is really worth the position being vied for. In our club particularly, it reached our virgin ears ( from some careless whisperers ) a concerted preference of putting Director Richard Dy's name as the prime person to occupy the much coveted PRESIDENT ELECT list. Well, in my personal point of view, be it a rumor or a fact - I would say it's a very wise move to take consideration with. Why? Think of any reason why Dir. Richard wouldn't be fitting the position? Nothing, right? Because Dir. Richard already proved his worth long time ago-since he joined our club. I for one believe his credibility, efficiency, resourcefulness, dedication and leadership skills. His simplicity speaks for his love of service and focus on tasks assigned to him. Well, of course all of those assignments were not just accomplished, as they were, but with exemplary results, so to speak. I may sound campaigning for Dir. Richard… you may think that way, but one crucial point here is certain, which I don't want to miss. Given the privilege to use this one chance to choose, I won't hesitate to consume it for Dir. Richard. He has the HEART and CAPABILITIES which are the MAIN ELEMENTS for the position. Why should I gamble for someone else? Take a closer look at it and let's write the same thing.
