gain, the meeting room was filling up fast - even before Pres. ALBERT called the meeting to order. We are running out of seats. If you want to get a good seat, you need to come early to our weekly RCSFLU meeting. This the way Rotary meetings should be...
The Day Chairman and Master of Ceremonies for the day's meeting was PP KIT. After Pres. ALBERT called the meeting to order, PP BEN led us in the Pambansang Awit and it was "Yours Truly" who filled in for the Prayer and 4 Way Test. A very short luncheon time followed ( It seems like getting shorter every meeting ). I guess the leaders want to keep the ball rolling and keep everything on track. I think that most of us would agree that it is a good idea to redeem the time and to stay on track.
PP CANOR had several visitors from the neighboring clubs to introduce, but, there were no birthday or anniversary celebrants for the day's meeting. That is a bit unusual. Nevertheless, we survived. By the way, WELCOME BACK PP RUFFI from your trip to the States. We missed you! PP PAQUITO's Friendship Session dealt with the kind of clothes we wore. If you had the wrong kind of clothes on for the Rotary meeting you have to pay hefty fine. It seems to me that fine is getting BIGGER and BIGGER, or maybe it is just my imagination?
A very successful report was rendered by Pres. ALBERT on the Book Fair which subsequently ended last Saturday ( 28 August 1999 ). Everyone was encouraged to drop by and check out the good deal on some items. Sec./PP TONY gave a good summary of what has been going on. I think this was the first time the Club Secretary has given a report for this Rotary Year. It was PP PAQUITO who called upon to lead the Rotary Song.
They say, it takes a doctor to introduce another doctor. This was the case in today's meeting as Dr./PP VIR was called upon to introduce our Guest of Honor & Speaker, Dr. Geoffrey S. Tilan who happens to be Provincial Administrator of La Union. Dr. Tilan spoke on the subject of "Helping to make tomorrow a better place". He also presented the "La Union Master Development Plan 2000". Our speaker had an excellent presentation. There were times that he even sounded like a preacher. Could it be that he missed his calling in life? Perhaps not, he does such a good job at what he is doing now. Thank you Dr. Tilan for "ministering" to us.
PP ARSING gave an appropriate response and the meeting was adjourned at 1:55 PM.
